No. 83: Make cocktails.

Cocktails.

I don't know how I managed to look like I'd come straight from an episode of Charlie's Angels, but there we go.

1. Gin and Tonic. Not strictly a cocktail but every good night should start with one.
2. Long Island Iced Tea.
3  Fiery Cooler. (I made the Ginger Beer from scratch and it ended up more as Fiery Murky Dishwater, but it tasted better than it sounds)
4. Margaritas.
5. Sprinkletini.
6. Brass Monkey.

Also, my Uncle Howard is hilarious.

No. 63: Raise a glass to a completely inappropriate holiday.

St. Patrick's Day. Thornlie Tavern.

I was quite annoyed no hats were on offer with the purchase of multiple pints of Guinness. As we have become 'regulars' (having been there at least three times) the bar maidens have taken a liking to us. As soon as we walked in Guinness t-shirts and two pints were handed over without even a single word uttered. I could get used to this.

I showed one of the barmaids how to make a Baby Guinness which she was very impressed with.

Met a bloke from Staffordshire who promptly bought the next round. The bar girl also gave us a round on the house. Score.

Weirdly, the pub in question closed absurdly early, 9pm, then served last orders to everyone there, kicked them out into the beer garden and shut up shop. Everyone was still outside drinking for at least an hour. A little bizarre.

No. 84: Frolic in a thunderstorm

It has been easy to frolic in a thunderstorm today. The rain has been unrelenting since about 7.30 this morning. Walking to the shops was fun. Singing "Singing In The Rain" in the rain is a necessity. The thunder is shaking the windows in quite a ferocious manner. It's very exciting.

No. 19: Write a note in the sand

I went to Penguin Island today. Clue is in the name. An island with penguins on it. Apparently not. I had a brief moment where I heard Jeff Goldblum/Ian Malcolm in Jurassic Park:

Now eventually you might have dinosaurs on your, on your dinosaur tour, right? Hello? Yes?

My distaste for the fact there were no penguins in sight was evident in the sand. Mainly because I scrawled all over this little cove because the tide kept coming in and rubbing out my handiwork. It had to be short and sweet.

I was thinking primarily of this YouTube video when I wrote it:

WTF, mate?

Just to be clear, I did not see any penguins. Only Pelicans, which led me to hum the Jurassic Park theme tune over and over again.

No. 76: Build something useful

This kind of morphed into 'Make something useful'.

The campervan had vile curtains, grotty, held together with a previous owners' blood, sweat & tears. Among other things.

So I went and bought some cute material and got sewing in Aunty Elly's workshop. She has industrial grade sewing equipment. Overlockers and all sorts.

My sewing skills generally aren't exactly of a high quality, I usually take the bish-bash-bosh approach. I was very careful this time though. I only make three mistakes, only two of which needed serious amounts of repair.

Overall, I'm pretty impressed. I wouldn't say it is a professional finish, it doesn't look like a monkey made it. Which is good enough for me.

No. 35: Wear a silly hat

Chinese New Year celebrations in a restaurant in Joondalup.
